It is tough to make a grocery shopping trip free of annoyances. I cannot stand it when items that I regularly buy have been moved to a completely different location in the store, causing me to waste valuable time performing a needless search.

It is at least equally aggravating when a preferred item on my grocery list is temporarily or permanently discontinued and is  replaced by a completely unrelated item that possesses little to no real value. For example, there is a brand of fresh salsa called, Frieda’s Salsa that my family loves. It is located in the produce section of our favorite grocery store. For a month or so last year and again this past week when I went to look for the salsa in its rightful place on the shelf, it was gone. What took the salsa’s place each time this happened was so odd and frustrating that I was simply astounded. If you guessed that our beloved Frieda’s Salsa was replaced by Pet Grass than your guess was correct. However, I am willing to guess that close to nobody and perhaps nobody at all would have made this guess. Needless to say the Pet Grass was not going adequately serve as a legitimate substitute for the salsa. Therefore, I passed on the opportunity to make that purchase.

Janet Hunt’s piece “Grocery Shopping Tips” that was published on Associated Content / Yahoo! Contributor Network (Y!CN) provided me with the mental jump start to write this article. Since Yahoo! Contributor Network (Y!CN) closed, I do not believe it is accessible anymore online. However, here is a link to Janet on Google+. Perhaps you will fancy another of her articles.

Update: It pleases me to state I am currently able to find to find Frieda’s Salsa at our grocery story of choice.
