People wonder if Expertscolumn is going down the toilet. Actually, the opposite may more accurately describe the situation. Although a great flushing sound is often heard the throughout the site, it is not enough. The bowl is simply filling up too fast with crap. Even with the most powerful flusher and with a few people plunging with all their might, it won’t be long before the bowl backs up completely. Then it will overflow and create a mess that is simply too nasty and pungent to clean up.
Too many columnists there are abusing this publishing platform. Many writers there simply plagiarize articles by copying and pasting articles from places like Wikipedia. Few writers cite any of their sources for their columns It is hard to believe that although this site is called Expertscolumn that so many of the writers here are true experts on all the subject matters that they write about or that they draw from some infinate source of general knowledge that renders it unnecessary for them to cite sources. There are tons of columns that are not correctly titled. Too many columns are full of grammatical errors and written with poorly constructed sentences. For example, far too often writers here do not even correctly spell Expertscolumn. Many articles are stuffed with keywords that go on and on without ever saying anything meaningful. Often extra letters, numbers and special codes are added so as to meet the minimum word requirement for a column.

Everyone is unique and therefore different columns will appeal to different people and not all columns can be expected to be expertly written. However, after you read a column, ask yourself these sorts of questions. Did that column teach me something? Was that column well written? Would you show that article to your neighbors, friends and family and proudly assert that you too are an Expertscolumnist? Lastly, ask yourself if you would pay for that column or would you think that the column was simply crap that needs to be purged from the site. For example, below is something that someone could write and call a column. Read it and ask yourself those questions and then decide for yourselves if you want to kiss Expertscolumn goodbye.

Note 1: This piece was originally published prior to the Expertscolumn: The Tale of Two Flippa Auctions, before Expertscolumn prevented its users  from accessing and potentially earning from their displayed and before Expertscolumn re-emerged with a new look and began sharing revenue again with its users.

Note 2: I believe that the Expertscolumn toilet bowl is still in a state of overflowing content waste. However, in fairness to Expertscolumn, this problem is pervasive across the internet and not strictly isolated to Expertscolumn. Perhaps even this site is overflowing as well. Please inform me if you feel that it is.

Gentle readers, Expertscolumn, put lipstick on the face of its site. However, is Expertscolumn successfully flushing and plunging its site or is its bowl overflowing with content waste?

  1. It takes a lot of work to keep out the scum, and it sounds like it’s too far gone. I didn’t know that it was still in existence. Maybe they just don’t care or can’t handle it. Whatever the reason, they would be wise to just close it down. I can’t imagine that Google, Amazon or even Chitika would allow their ads on a site like that.

  2. I see a lot of sites like that… I haven’t written for ExpertsColumn in forever, but it sounds like they need reviewers to look over the content before it goes “live.” Of course, many “writers” don’t take things like plagiarism or copyright infringement seriously either. Nothing will destroy a website quicker than the things you mentioned above.
