Feb 202015

sale photoThe master dealer of the deck of online revenue sites continues to shuffle the playing field beyond recognition. At the end of 2014 the online writing landscape looked radically different than it did at the end of 2013. 2015 is quickly altering the online writing canvas even further.

The year of 2014 brought to a close the campaigns of large revenue share operations such the Yahoo! Contributor Network (Y!CN) formerly known as Associated Content, Helium and Epinons. Squidoo merged with Hubpages.

Bubblews truly popped the life out of many its users when it ushered in 2015 with a surprise New Year’s Eve announcement of epic proportions that radically impacted the monetary redemptions of many its users.

This provided a window of opportunity for some other Bubblews clone sites to try and capitalize on the big bubble in the sky’s misfortunes. Some of these sites definitely create a sense of hustle and bustle on their publishing grounds, but it does not sound as if users on these platforms are finding big pots of gold.

The owners of another pair of sites announced that their users had voted in favor of lowered pay rates as a stop gap measure to potentially allow the sites to live to fight another day. Though this was not joyous news for both sets of parties, the owners handled their predicament and delivered their message in a professional, open and straight forward fashion. Thus, it did not seem to leave users screaming foul play.

Up and down the internet highway of information, there are a variety of other revenue sharing sites that seem stale and stagnant with little interaction among users and even less discussion of meaningful pay.

On February 19, 2105, while casting lines and trolling, this fisher of news reeled in another surprising development from the sea of online revenue sites. Tyler Norwood, creator and owner of Seekyt placed his site up for sale via an auction on Flippa.com. Please visit Seekyt for sale on Flippa.com for all the details.

It appears that illnesses in Mr. Norward’s family prompted his decision to put Seekyt on the auction block. On Flippa.com, Mr. Norwood provides much information about the site in general and he also details its traffic, cost and revenues statistics. If you look through the comments, you will see that Mr. Norwood interacts and responds to the questions people pose to him. I myself had several questions regarding the sale of Seekyt. I emailed Mr. Norward several times and each time he promptly and courteously replied to each of my queries.

How the sale of Seekyt.com is seemingly going down on Flippa.com, stands in shark contrast to how another revenue sharing site conducted its own Flippa auction several years ago. I covered that saga too in a piece titled, Expertscolumn – The Tale of Two Flippa Auctions.” At the time this piece was first published it was no longer online, but in light of these developments, I think it deserves another incarnation. When I breath life into it again, that title will link to its new home on Meegerinville.

  1. I believe that it sold for $15,000. I read that it brings in around $1,200 a month. After publishing 21 SEO articles there, I haven’t made a cent. There’s nothing quite like zeros to kill a person’s inspiration. I’m selling my work outright and publishing my own blog now. I won’t fool with ad revenue sharing again. I loved the site, but it didn’t work for me. I couldn’t keep working for free.

  2. Interesting information Han, but way out of my ballpark.
